Nine-year-old Louis Drax is a problem child: bright, precocious, deceitful, and dangerously, disturbingly, accident prone. When he falls off a cliff into a ravine, the accident seems almost predestined. Louis miraculously survives - but the family has been shattered. Louis' father has vanished, his mother is paralysed by shock, and Louis lies in a deep coma from which he may never emerge. In a clinic in Provence, Dr Pascal Dannachet tries to coax Louis back to consciousness. But the boy defies medical logic, startling Dannachet out of his safe preconceptions, and drawing him inexorably into the dark heart of Louis' buried world. Only Louis holds the key to the mystery surrounding his fall - and he can't communicate. Or can he?

A second copy of a book I've already read.

It didn't disappoint. This is a big rollercoaster of a novel. It is a psychological thriller that leaves you guessing right till the end. At first I thought that Louis was really annoying as he talked a hundred miles an hour randomly, mostly what i assumed was nonsense. I was too busy focusing on him to realise what the novel was really about. A very surprising outcome at the end. A superbly written book - would definitely like to try more by this author. I would highly recommend this to everyone.

Am taking this to the meet at The Red Lion (Fosters Booth) tonight, and am going to use it as my bookswap game book. Hope whoever wins it enjoys it!

Won in the bookswap at today's meet - this is a book I've tried and given up on before but I'm assured by reliable sources that it's worth perservering with. Thanks retromonkey!
