Archer wasn't the trusting type, and this case was chock-full of things a suspicious guy could worry about. Phony accents. Fat, untraceable bankrolls. Quick, uncontollable tempers. Strangers who came on the scene with no past at all, and friends who had no future. He didn't trust the scrabbling, insistent noise under the door, either. And when he opened it, a woman's bloody arm groped at his leg. "Lover-boy," she gasped, just before she died. Archer had a feeling he knew who she meant.
