This retelling of Cinderella's oh-so-familiar tale from the perspective of her fairy godmother was intriguing and very real. From the cover and back cover blurb, I was expecting a light, fun story, but there is a constant undercurrent of loneliness and despair tangled with short bursts of hope and exhilaration. Overall, I liked the style of the writing, the pace of the book, and how the past and the present run parallel throughout the story before colliding in the end.
