This book contains letters written from a young army officer's wife when she was living at Fort Lyon, Colorado and in Oklahoma and Montana territories in the late nineteenth century. (387 pages)

It was interesting to read these letters and get an idea of what life was like in the West over 130 years ago. The author of the letters, the Army officer's wife, loved to ride horses. She also describes a lot of hunting and fishing. There was no neighborhood grocery store. They had to send to St. Louis for supplies. Travel did get easier when trains became more available. The book ends with a description of a visit to Salt Lake City. She also describes a visit to Yellowstone National Park earlier in the book.
My late mother gave me this book many years ago, and I have finally gotten around to reading it.
