Received as a Christmas present with The Friday Night Knitting Club.
Widowed control-freak, mother of two and approaching 50, Gus Simpson needs to improve the ratings of her TV cooking show before it's axed. Before she knows it, she finds herself sharing a new program with Carmen Vega, a ruthlessly ambitious ex-Miss Spain vying for her own spot as TV celebrity chef. While coping with her career problems, she also attempts to help her adult daughters - sensible Aimee & pampered Sabrina -, her good friend & neighbor Hannah - disgraced former child tennis star who is fast becoming a recluse -, & the show's much younger producer is looking very attractive. Gus feels her life is out of control.

A slow start but reasonably entertaining. I was expecting a bit more from Jacobs 2nd book, but swap the knitting with food & it's almost the same book, although this one seems a little more cohesive than the last. I like that Gus got it on with her younger culinary producer, Oliver, probably the best part of the book. Everyone ended up coming to terms with their lives to a certain degree which is to be expected in this light & fluffy genre. No surprises unfortunately. It could have done with a bit more spice (pun intended).
