November 27 - Well, I finished this last night, after taking a few weeks to read it. I don't agree with all of it but it is an important book. He highlights a lot of things that most people would prefer not to know about - because if they acknowledged it, they couldn't keep ignoring it, and once you see injustice you have to stop it.
I really am sick of war over oil. Henry Ford said "There is fuel in every bit of vegetable matter that can be fermented. There's enough alcohol in one year's yield of an acre of potatoes to drive the machinery necessary to cultivate the fields for a hundred years." Biodiesel (that's what it's called) is also superior to petrol in just about every way. click here for more details.

I'm sick of war full-stop! :(
I also really recommend the book Stupid White Men and the film Bowling for Columbine. Farenheit 9/11 should be seen after reading Stupid White Men.
Thanks Mike, for making people talk!
If you're Australian, I HIGHLY recommend Bob Brown's memo for a saner world (2004).
I'm giving this book a 9/10 because even though it's US-centric, America does affect Australia and so what's going on over there does reflect back on us. Capitalism is good in theory ("equal opportunity for everyone") but when 1% of the world's population "own" 90% of the world's wealth and the bottom 20% don't even have opportunity to eat, well something is very very wrong. And it keeps staying that way (and getting worse) because there are multi-billion-dollar industries that rely on -cheap labor, - minimal environmental protection laws, - certain people to stay in government, -hemp to remain illegal, etc.
And many politicians have shares in these companies, or have received a nice big campaign donation (tax-free of course).
Anyway they won't get away with it for too much longer. *hums* ...and the times they are a-changin'...
Please read this book and pass it on!
