I have send this in the mail to day.
I´m getting more and more interested of India!
Born in a village in heartland India, the son of a rickshaw puller, Balram is taken out of school by his family and put to work in a teashop. As he crushes coals and wipes tables, he nurses a dream of escape - of breaking away from the banks of Mother Ganga, into whose depths have seeped the remains of a hundred generations.
The White Tiger is a tale of two Indias. Balram’s journey from darkness of village life to the light of entrepreneurial success is utterly amoral, brilliantly irreverent, deeply endearing and altogether unforgettable.

I really really enjoyed this one! One of the best books this year! I am very grateful for the opportunity, thanks Deepswamp for arranging it and panzeranzi for sending it to me. Sometimes I get lost in the quantity of characters in novels taking place in India but this one was nothing like that. A tremendous blow against the rich in India. It reminded me a little of "Slumdog millionaire"
Now it travels on. Happy reading!
I agree with Vilda, it was good to read a book set in India where I could keep track of al the characters.
I'll quote Balram, from page 205:
"So I stood around that big square of books. Standing around books, even books in a foreign language, you feel a kind of electricity buzzing towards you, ..."
I think most of us can relate to that!
I'm last in the ray, but I've got plans for the book and it will travel again soon.
