I really enjoyed reading this book - it is written in a flowing narrative style, and really tells a good story of the growing up and coming of age of a young boy in pre-democratic South Africa, his joys, fears, discoveries and the way he sees society. Although a story, it is based on a background of true society and factual happenings in South Africa during the 50's and 60'. This book will be thoroughly enjoyed by those who grew up during that time (as a reminder to fond memories), as well as those who are younger, but who are after gaining an insight of how it was to grow up and come of age during that time.
