Here's what I wrote in the Journal of the German book:
Somehow I must have been in exaclty the right mood for this book - I read it within two evenings/nights, something which has not happened for a long time. I liked it very much, for example in the beginnin Edward's reaction on Bella. All the other vampires are despribed wonderfull as well. The only thing which was to much for me was _every_ boy getting nervous around Bella ;)
Going to travel as ring if someone is interested in reading it :)
edit 09.12.08: Maenade reminded me of something: The beginning of the 5th book of the series is available on the homepage of the author - it was spread over the internet before she finished the writing - and now she is not sure if she will finish it. You can find it here: Part of Book V. It describes the story of the first book out of Edward's view.

EDIT:
Despite myself, I actually enjoyed reading the book. I found myself liking the story a lot - especially in the beginning, when Bella hasn't yet found out about Edward. Unfortunately, starting with the baseball scene (which was quite boring to me), the last 200 or so pages were increasingly disappointing. Nonetheless, I can't wait to find out how the story continues. I really like Stephenie Meyer's style of writing!

On its way again. Sorry for the delay!
Thanks for sharing and thanks for sending it!
Well, I had already heard a few things about the book beforehand and I wondered about the hype, that's why I wanted to give it a chance. And it certainly isn't bad, although most of it really is a very typical "american high-school" story. But it is well written, Edward as a character is interesting, Bella as well, not to forget Alice and the other Cullens. I, too, wondered why every boy should fall for Bella, especially since she didn't seem to be that much of a highlight in Phoenix... All in all I enjoyed reading the book and I'm looking forward to the other parts of the series.
Thanks for the ring and thanks for sending the book; I'll straightaway contact the next reader.

Unfortunately I still have to finish another ring, then I should read something for my job, but then it's the next on the list! (I might even read it before, as I'm so very nosy what this craze is all about - my pupils (mostly girls) loved the series and one girl even ordered the English versions of the first two volumes to read over the Easter holidays. I asked her if she doesn't find it boring to read it in English when already knowing how the story goes and she said: "Anyway, I've already read the first book three times"...) But as her English teacher I don't mind, it can only help to improve their skills!
Knowing already that they will fall for each other, I found the beginning a bit disturbing (thinking: "Why's he behaving so strangely?" - but this got solved as the story went on.)
Bella's clumsiness was rather funny, and I learned a lot about the lives of vampires. I would have liked to "ride" on Edward through the forest - must be miles better than a ride on a rollercoaster!
I've read the "teaser" in the back, too, and am looking forward to reading the rest of the series, too.
(But it's not to the point that I'd run to the next bookshop and buy them as I can't wait. Maybe that's because I'm not a teenager any more?)
Thanks, rotewoelfin, for this ring, and I've already PMd risibisi so that the book can travel on soon.
P.S. Now I can refer to the book in my German lessons and explain what an "Ich-Erzähler" is, why it's easier for teenage girls to identify with Bella than with the "hero" of a Schiller-play... Our little "insider-talks" start to be annoying for the boys ;-), and then I say: "Just read it!"

Wandert morgen zur zweiten Runde in die Post :)
I really really enjoyed this book. I already knew the film, so I was very curious whether the book or the film were better. The film won slightly, because the book starts to drag a bit in the last third (yes, I think, it starts withe the baseball, scene, too).
All the same, I enjoyed myself thoroughly, I read it through in one eveining and and the night after (I finished at 4 a.m. as I was absolutely unable to stop reading).
I love the characters, thy style of writing, the description of scene made me feel like I were there beside Bella - I admit, that may be because of the film, too.
I can't wait to read the other parts ... may I, PLEASE? :-D
I found it interesting to see how vampires manage to live in the human world. Despite some minor logical flaws the story works out surprisingly well. Starting with the baseball scene the plot becomes less realistic, unfortunately, although in my opinion the increasing suspense partly compensates for that.
I'm definitely going to read the other books in the series, too!
@rotewoelfin: May I join your other rings, please?
