I really enjoy Ishiguro's writing as a rule and expect this book to be as whymsical and magical as his others. A big thanks to nastenka-d for sending this one to me.

I finally got around to reading this book and it's quiet, proud mood and style really drew me in. Ishiguro really writes proud and uptight characters beautifully. The novel deals with the shifting sands of post WWII Japan and the narrators role within that. It is subtle and relentless and quietly squeezes a kind of frustration and confusion from its pages.
