This book was chosen because it is on the 2009 Reading Olympics list for Bucks County, and Morrisville's Gifted 6-12 students are required to read one Reading Olympics book per month this school year. Our goal is to get the books on the list, journal about them as we read them, have a release party at the end of the school year, and track the journey of our books next school year. We're excited to see where this book goes!

The Lighthouse Land is a fantasy about a boy named Jamie who has only one arm and refuses to speak. When he stumbles into an alternate reality with his friend Ramsay they find themselves as lords of a distant galaxy. They meet a girl named Wishaway who tells them that her city of Aldan is about to be attacked by a fleet of Alkhavan ice-ships. While they are there:they save Wishaway's father from execution, get captured by Alkhavans, infect the planet with disease, and create Greek fire and burn through the enemy's ships. At the end Jamie leaves the world of Altair to save his mother. I hope you enjoy this book.
