Graffiti: Selected Scrawls From Bathroom Walls
7 journalers for this copy...
I got this through freecycling.com.
It's somehow kind of a yukky little book, published in 1967 and full of the text of actual bathroom wall graffiti, collected by the book's author. By turns irreverant, humorous, and pointless, some of it is also mildy offensive. A good amount of it is very relevant to the 60's, which is interesting. The sections entitled "Politics" and "Racial Troubles & Commentaries" are especially indicative of the times, as is the use of the "f" term in the "Homosexual Billets-Doux" section. (I told you some of it was offensive.) It's good to know that we've advanced at least some in this regard, though I can't really speak as to whether men's room walls in particular are reflective of that. ;-)
I didn't necessarily find any wisdom here (did I really expect to?), but I did like these:
"I just turned real." Egage Coffee House, 339 East 10th St., NYC
"The graffiti in the men's room is better." Ladies' room, Lion's Head, 59 Christopher St., NYC
and
"While you are reading this you are peeing on the guy next to you." (Written high on a wall and sideways.)
This looks like the sort of thing that should travel, and at 64 pages it's both a quick read and should be cheap to mail.

Got it :D Thanks! I have one actual book and another "flick through it" type book to finish before this one, but I seem to have started them all at once and I'm a fast reader - spending lots of time at home in bed at the moment so the fact that all my rings/rays have arrived at once is rather a blessing, it gives me something to do! Looks interesting, anyway, will thumb through it and send on ASAP :)

I'm not entirely sure what to say about this one. I found it quite hard to read in places, even though it's just little excerpts! There were some amusing places but overall I'm not really sure. I seem to have loads of things to post on to lucy-lemon at the moment so if it's alright with guinneth I'll hold onto it til I've finished the other ring I have to send to her?
Arrived yesterday. I currently have about five rings to get through, and because this one seems fairly quick to read, I'll try and do this one first.
Journal Entry 7 by Vekiki from -- Somewhere in London 🤷‍♀️ , Greater London United Kingdom on Friday, January 2, 2009
Receieved and read all in one day (yesterday!)
an interesting snapshot of the concerns of the everyman in late 60s america... made me wonder how a similar work done today would compare. I shall certainly be more on the look-out in future :)
Will post on asap

Picked up with a mountain of other books. Will read as soon as possible.
It was an interesting read through the 60s. I am not sure I would recommend it to someone else but it was interesting.
