This novel opens with a legendary baseball game which played in Brooklyn, New York in 1951. Apparently, this game is also played on the same day that the news is broadcast that the Soviets have recently tested the Atomic bomb. The narrative of the book follows the baseball of a legendary home run as it travels through the 1950s and 1960s.
