This will be going out to Goddess of Fire in the next few days. The meat recipe I included can be made in a dutch oven or a slowcooker. I've had it both ways and both are tasty. I also included salad and desert recipes for what is a meal without a salad and/or desert?

Apologies to those I might offend but my handwriting/printing is atrocious so I typed and scanned the recipes. Writing by hand aggravates my CTS.

Journal Entry 10 by Cinderess on Monday, April 6, 2009
No problem. I'm happy to have the recipes in either form. I can't wait to get them!
Thanks very much to all who've participated so far.

Ps: What's a dutch oven?

Journal Entry 11 by Goddess-Of-Fire from Springfield, Missouri USA on Monday, April 27, 2009

Thanks!

Journal Entry 12 by debnance from Alvin, Texas USA on Wednesday, June 24, 2009
This much awaited slow cooker recipe book arrived a day or two ago, while I was still off adventuring in Utah. I was happy to receive it.

I added two of my favorites last night. Both came from a cookbook I received as a wedding gift thirty-one years ago....These recipes have stood the test of time!

I'll send an e-mail off to our next participant today and obtain her address asap so that I can get this book back on the road.

Journal Entry 13 by daniellechonody from Dallas, Texas USA on Saturday, August 8, 2009

Journal Entry 14 by Firegirl from Tucson, Arizona USA on Friday, October 2, 2009
Arrived safely today! I'm moving into my new home over the weekend so there may be a slight delay, but I'll get my contribution put in and this moved along ASAP. (I'm very excited about trying some of the recipes on here, especially the fisherman's chowder!)

Journal Entry 15 by Firegirl from Tucson, Arizona USA on Wednesday, November 4, 2009
OMG, I am SO sorry!! This got put in a big pile of "things to deal with" in the middle of a very crazy move and I just found it again. My apologies for holding this so long! I've added my contributions and will PM next in line right now.

FINALLY sending this out to the next in line. I'm so ashamed to have taken so long!

Journal Entry 17 by Firegirl from Tucson, Arizona USA on Tuesday, November 17, 2009
Before this gets journaled by the next BCer, I wanted to share two recipes i've tried recently:

I tried a new recipe since I passed on the journal and I thought I'd share it with you. Came out FAB. Chicken Taco Soup.

Made it as listed except I only used half an onion (I don't like them much) and added some chipotle powder (can you get that out your way?) for spice. It was a huge hit at my last work potluck and reheats really well.

Also, a super easy pulled-pork BBQ:

Put pork butt in crock pot. Add 12 or so oz root beer or Dr. Pepper. Cook on low 6 hours. Pour off fat and tonic (pop/soda/whatever you call it). Shred pork. Add bottle of your fave BBQ sauce, stir, cook another hour or so. Serve with tart cole slaw on toasted buns. (I used a sweet, creamy root beer (vs the kind that has a bite to it; A&W would be fine) and used a spicy BBQ sauce. You don't taste the soda much at all -- it really just keeps it moist -- so I added a splash of root beer back in with the BBQ sauce for the last hour to balance the spice. I prepped the butt with a dry rub, but I don't think I needed to. When I make it again for an upcoming football party I won't bother.)

Enjoy!!

NOTE: Non-Americans can check out this site for information on pork butt, which is actually pork shoulder, because we Americans are a little nutty.

I received this from Firegirl shortly after she sent it. I'm sorry I've taken so long to journal it. (Busy time of year!) I will try and go through it and write in some recipes tomorrow while the turkey is cooking :) PMing the next in line.

Book is on it's way to Cheli-garza today.

Journal Entry 22 by cheli-garza from Dallas, Texas USA on Friday, April 9, 2010
This totally came as a surprise to me. It's my turn so soon? Agh! It's been a while since I've even turned on my slowcooker (or my stove). Hopefully they still work. :) I'll be going through my cookbooks and recipe collections to see if I can find a few suitable recipes to share. Thanks for letting me take part!

BTW, Cinderess, I think a Dutch oven is a nice oval pot with a lid that goes in the oven. You can also use it to make a stew or such over a campfire. Then again, I could be wrong... :)

4/27/2010- LilacWhisper isn't able to participate in this at the time, so I'm contacting Wandering-B for an address.

Please do a journal entry-Thanks xx
I have finally finished with this so am popping it into the post today ( hopefully!)
My my what a long trip around the world its had- I bet it could tell a few tales!

Im quite intrigued though by all the references to a "Pot Luck"_ what is it?

I was so pleased to see this today (it did come Saturday WW but I was at a Bookcrossing meet in Salcey, Northants so it was kept in the sorting office) it's great that my recipe folder has travelled so far and come home. Especially as it has soooo many great recipes in it! I look forward to using them.
A BIG THANK YOU to everyone for sharing these, and also for the cards - Wandering B, Elle and Waderwoman (I loved the popping candy. It's already gone!)

I made Waderwoman's Red Hot Beef last night. It was delicious and the consensus was that it should made again. Here is a steaming hot picture of it.

Journal Entry 32 by Cinderess at Exchange/Trade, A Bookcrossing member -- Controlled Releases on Saturday, November 20, 2010
I made the Chinese Chicken and Mushroom recipe too a few weeks ago (another of Waderwoman's.) It was good.

Journal Entry 33 by Cinderess at Exchange/Trade, A Bookcrossing member -- Controlled Releases on Tuesday, November 23, 2010
I tried Wandering-B's baked potato in the SC yesterday, it really works! It's not as nice as oven cooked but definitely worth remembering.

NB: you prick a/some baking potato(s) and wrap in foil and put in the slow cooker. 7-8 hours on slow depending on size.
