An interesting and enjoyable read (as most travel literature is, in my opinion - what's not to like about reading about new places?) But somehow I didn't engage with the author, which slightly lessened my enjoyment.
Passed on to my mum, who has visited many of the places in the book.

Passed to me by Dododumpling who thought it would be a good read for me as I have visited some of the places mentioned in the book. I shall pass it on to a fellow traveller.
I did my travelling in China with a package deal more recently than the author Polly Evans. Modernisation may have caught up with the larger towns and cities but the villages and attitudes are exactly as described by the author.
A thoroughly good read which brought back many memories.
