" Alfie Budd found the perfect woman with whom to spend the rest of his life- and then lost her. He doesn`t believe you get a second chance at love.
Returning to the England he left behind during the brief, idyllic time of his marriage, Alfie finds the rest of his world collapsing around him. He takes comfort in a string of pointless, transient affairs, and he tries to learn Tai Chi from an old Chinese man, George Chang.
Will Alfie ever find a family life as strong as the Changs`?
And can he give up meaningless sex for a meaningful relationship?
Tony Parsons`s brilliant novel is about live, family, sex, Tai Chi and the human heart. "

Bought in a second-hand-shop to be released.

Not bad. Worht reading.

We visited Århus for two nights during our holiday roadtrip and I also wanted to see the local bookcrossing shelf. I enjoyed visiting the shelf and also had some coffee and cake in the cafe. I released one book to the shelf and this was the one I picked up with me. I have not read Tony Parsons books yet but have read positive comments about them made by other Finnish bookcrossers. Thank you pulcherrima and zimort, and Finnish greetings to you!

I read this book on our six-hour return flight on our winter holiday. At first I did not like Alfie much and was not able to feel compassion for his loss as that led him to "abuse" several young vulnerable women in his purpose to replace his pain with new happiness. Towards the end the story felt to become a bit more profound and some lessons were perhaps learned. The Chinese family traditions very pictured interestingly and I also liked the characters of Alfie's adorable nan and the young Plum. The book gave me a small urge to travel to Hong Kong too :).

Thanks for sharing this book, I will look new readers for it now.

This book was on offer in our local BC meeting, but those fellow readers interested in Tony Parsons had already read this one. So I wil give this book to my husband to be released on his weekend trip in central Europe and make a release alert when I hear where he leaves this book :).

My husband left this book to an information sign close to the chapel while visiting a geocache at the location. The book is protected by a bookcrossing wild release plastic bag.

Greetings from Finland!

I found your book near the chapel where your husband left it, while accompanying my wife on one of her geocashing outings.
I myself am not really a casher, but I take advantage of her hobby to take some pictures.
We probably even met your husband and his friends at another cash, somewhat later, in Stadtbredimus, without knowing who they were of course.
They were four friends from Finland with Ryanair in a rental car from Hahn.
We had a brief talk and wished them a nice week-end.
