Journal Entry 5 by emmagoldmanzine from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA on Tuesday, December 15, 2009
This book arrived in my Mystery Bookbox, which has finally arrived home.
Decided to send this one out again in the second mystery book box.
Arrived last week via emmagoldmanzine's mystery bookbox. And I see this book is back in New Jersey (waves hello to HunterRyu), after making a few side trips through New York and Pennsylvania.
I've read several of Mary Higgins Clark's books, so I thought I'd give this one a spin.
I've read several of Mary Higgins Clark's books, so I thought I'd give this one a spin.
As Clark's novels go, this was somewhere between so-so and okay. It's got an interesting premise - Elizabeth wants to find out the truth about her famous sister's death - but it's a little weird about how the relationship between her and her sister's fiance is played out, and the spa owners are a little bizarre. There also seem to be a few too many spots where the plotline drags.
Got the book off in the mail to a fellow BX-er in Pennsylvania. Enjoy!
Received! Thank you so much for sharing.
I was not impressed. Initially I found the cast of jet-setting characters and the California spa setting intriguing, but the novel didn't live up to its promise, in my view. I quickly lost interest, although I did finish the book because it was an easy, mindless read for moments when I just wanted to zone out. For a so-called suspense novel, I thought the pace was desperately slow. I think I am probably done with Mary Higgins Clark!
