Just finished reading this book. I do not usually read detective stories but this book was excellent! I found it laying around in our house and now, after reading it, I'm ready to let it go.
Three Complete Novels include:
- The Postman Always Rings Twice
- Double Indemnity
- Mildred Pierce
Off the inside cover:
When it comes to the pure poetry of suspense, nobody delivers like James M. Cain. Lust, murder, and obsessive guilt haunt the pages of his brilliant, lightning-paced novels of the 1930s and '40s. Cain is the quintessential artist of the "roman noir" - the dark crime novel that has given rise to an entier genre of Hollywood movies. Now Cain's most searing masterpieces - The Postman Always Rings Twice, Double Indemnity, and Mildred Pierce - are presented together for the first time.
