Hardback.
"July 1209: in Carcassonne a sixteen-year-old girl is given a mysterious book by her father which he claims contains the secret of the true Grail. although Alais cannot understand the strange words and symbols hidden within, she knows that her destiny lies in protecting it. It will take great sacrifice and faith to keep the secret of the labyrinth safe - a secret that stretches back thousands of years to the deserts of Ancient Egypt.
July 2005: Alice Tanner stumbles upon two skeletons during an archaeological dig in the mountains outside Carcassonne. Inside the hidden tomb where the bodies lie crumbling, she experinces an overwhelming sense of malevolence, as well as a creeping realisation that, however impossible it seems, she can somehow understand the mysterious ancient words carved into the rock. Too late, Alice realises she's set in motion a terrifying sequence of events that she cannot control and that her destiny is inextricably tied up with the fate of the Cathars 800 years before."

Picked up at the Camel & Artichoke BC Meetup this evening. I've already read it (good book BTW) but the shelves are bursting and WistfulDragon was really keen to see as many books moving as possible. Picked up with the sole intention of it being released on the way home.

Left on the 22:20 London Waterloo train to Salisbury - 2nd carriage. Two ladies kindly reminded me I had left it and when I said I had done so deliberately and that if they were interested they could take it or leave it as they see fit they said thank you. I didn't hang around to see whether they took it or whether they left it!

An excellent read and a very intriguing story. This was the first time I had heard of bookcrossing
but I think it is a wonderful idea.

Going to read it, then pass it back to person who gave it to me, so the book can be passed on to someone else.
