*The Book of Air and Shadows

This book is slow to take off, but half-way through took off. A variety of twists intertwined with two story lines that meet later in the book, combined with "letters" from a 17th century "spy". An intriguing look into an underworld that I'm certainly not familiar with.

I found this book in a coffee shop. I thought it might be an interesting read. Unfortunately I was wrong on that. The author skipped around from character to character without making many connections so it was just frustrating to read. It might have gotten better at the end but I did not make it that far because the author described a main characters "member" as being "turgid" and that is about as far as I ever made it.

This book was very dry and did not flow at all, making it a simultaneously confusing and boring read. I did not even make it to the turgid parts. I would rate this book as more of a "flaccid," actually.
