When Judith Brown was brutally murdered in her home on the north coast of NSW on 2 June 2000, police were baffled. There was no witness, no motive, and no conclusive physical evidence to indicate a suspect. Detective Sergeant Peter Fox was determined to see justice done. In spite of a growing workload, he worked steadily on the case for eighteen months, only to find that there was insufficient evidence to make an arrest.

He persevered. Three years after Judith brown was murdered, Peter Fox's suspect faced trial in the Newcastle Supreme Court in one of the most fascinating and complicated circumstantial investigations in New South Wales history. The whole story was finally revealed – not by the killer's confession, not because compelling evidence was finally uncovered, but thanks to painstaking police work driven by passionate determination to find the truth.

Murder at Anna Bay is John Suter Linton's fourth true crime book. His first, The Stranger You Know, unravelled the mysteries surrounding the 1981 murder of Kim Barry; his second, Beyond the Blood, investigated the murders of former Wollongong Lord Mayor Frank Arkell, shopkeeper David O’Hearn, and Jack van Krevel; his third, An Almost Perfect Murder, recounted the investigation into the Canberra murder of Ricky Conway and how the police caught one of their own.
