Journal Entry 6 by wingUrfinwing from Wolfsburg, Niedersachsen Germany on Monday, October 6, 2008
Schoene Stellen bisher:
"Now it is a strange thing, but things that are good to have and days that are good to spend are soon told about, and not much to listen to; while things that are uncomfortable, palpitating, and even gruesome, may make agood tale, and take a deal of telling anyway."
"There is nothing like looking, if you want to find something... You certainly usually find something, if you look, but it is not always quite the something you were after. So it proved on this occasion."

"...Gollum...was miserable, alone, lost.
A sudden understanding, a pity mixed with horror, welled up in Bilbo's heart: a glimpse of endless unmarked days without light or hope of betterment, hard stone, cold fish, sneaking and whispering..."

I have never ever read something by Tolkien...
Actually never wanted to...
but I will give it a try! Promised!

Journal Entry 13 by wingkiki66wing from Gauting, Bayern Germany on Tuesday, March 24, 2009
Sorry to say, but that's not my cup of tea.
Even in my wildest fantasy times (11th grade at school) I've read all by Wolfgang Holbein and Ursula LeGuin, but nothing
by Tolkien. I tried the LOTR's (movies though) but no.. and so I will give this book to qantaqa soon.. maybe it has more
luck there...

Sorry...

Edit: will give it to qantaqa today - April 2nd...

One of my favourites as well :) - I love Tolkien's books (except for "The Silmarillion")! Will travel on to Sidney1 tomorrow.

Journal Entry 15 by Sidney1 from München, Bayern Germany on Sunday, April 12, 2009
Arrived safely last Wednesday. I read it at school, 10th class I think. We all really got into it and wrote letters in the alphabet usw. I'll give it a little read-in, but I don't think I'll read the whole book again.

Journal Entry 16 by Sidney1 from München, Bayern Germany on Tuesday, February 23, 2010
I am very embarrassed to say that I have just re-discovered this book sitting snugly on my shelf. I did try to get into it again, but can't say I like the style nowadays. I'm no longer into fantasy, really (although I did love the LOTRs films. It's going off to Kaiserslautern today.
