Received from adele at BookCrossing meetup!

After the tragic sinking of a cargo ship, one solitary lifeboat remainds bobbing ont he wild, blue Pacific. The crew of the surviving vessel consists of a hyena, a zebra (with a broken leg), a female orang-utan, a 450 pound Royal Begal tiger and Pi - a 16-year-old Indian boy. The scene is set for one of the most extraordinary pieces of literary fiction of recent years.

Heard good recommendations so its on the TBR list.

I really enjoyed "Life of Pi". I think its extraordinary that an author could take such an unbelievable situation and make it believable! I was cheering Pi on by the end.

Sent to Tantie this morning - enjoy!

Wow. I loved this book. It has a fabulous, fable-like simplicity. If you have the habit (like I do on occasion) of skipping ahead in the book - DON'T. That's all I will say.

Like a children's book for adults, this delicious story is brushed with a dark, magical realism that makes you question the entire novel. Yet the first part of the book gives you enough reasons as to why you should and can believe the fantastic tale that follows.

Pi himself captured my imagination and it is hard not to adopt his naïve spirit and his open way of questioning the world around him. A clever & inventive innocent - he soon has you seeing things his way - his pure acceptance and broad-minded interpretation of the world and its wonders serve him well. He certainly ends up needing the help of his various adopted Gods!

A surprising, amusing allegory about the nature of belief, faith and reality.

I found this book thoroughly entertaining and such smooth flowing sentences. Of course having spacing between sentences also helps with the reading.
