My second read of a Willa Cather. I'm a fan of stories relating to settlers in the 1800's. I very much enjoyed this novel. The story doesn't have a sappy, happy ending. It's realistic, it's a well told story. I felt for the narrator of the story. I won't give anything away, but it's a very good work for Willa's time. Her tale in this instance involves Bohemian settlers in Nebraska, which adds a dimension I haven't found in other settler's stories. It's a fast read, too.
