It goes straight to my shelf. I'll read it asap and then set it free again - somewhere :) Thanks a million! :)
The main character is interesting enough, as are her surroundings and friends, but despite all this promising factors the plot is weak, weak, weak. Perhaps this can be attributed to the fact that it's the first book in the series, and maybe the following ones get better - I'll nver know ;)
The story is set in Greenwich Village in the 20's, and the main character, Olivia / Oliver Brown is a poet and a sleuth - albeit a very bad one, in my opinion ;)

Released on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 at Not known yet-will update when released in London, England United Kingdom.
I'll try to make it to tonight's meet-up and release it there; otherwise, I will probably leave it in the hostel's bookshelf ("The Generator" is the name, and it's got a web page for information on where it is).
Or not. Who knows? I'll let you know later.

Picked up at last night's meet-up.
Last book on the table, sitting all alone like the last kid to be picked for games. Looking at it now, it seems all right - a period mystery set during Prohibition.

Released on Wednesday, May 12, 2004 at Staff room where I work in London - Central, England United Kingdom.
I'm giving this a try in the staff room. If it's not picked up after a week or two, I'll probably put it on a pub bookshelf.

was passing outside the central library in the city centre when i saw the book lying open but cover up on the floor at the bottom of some steps. it crossed my mind that it may be one of the books that get left by mystery people for other to pick up and enjoy reading. i was delighted when i discovered it was. i shall have fun reading it and will pass on to a friend who can then leave it in a place of her chosing for someone else to enjoy also.
