A collection of unicorn-themed art, the images are of varying quality. Personally - and I am a jerk, I admit this freely - the only artist in the bunch that I was intrigued enough to consider looking them up was Susan Seddon Boulet. Her sketches were uniquely evocative of the transcendent qualities of the unicorn and the artistic pop culture of the 1960s and 70s. Erin Gamble O'Toole also had a contribution that resonated with me, mostly because of the subject's resemblance to The Last Unicorn. An oil painter called Kirwan is worth mention, too, for his unicorns were the most robust and lifelike. But much of the art has such stilted anatomy or seems childish. Hardly essential except for the greatest unicorn enthusiast.

Tracking down the artists to link to this review was difficult; I'm not sure if I've got everyone correctly.

I recieved this as a transaction from Paperback Swap.

I have always been fascinated by unicorns and I have been collecting all the unicorn books (fiction, poetry, reference, photography, artwork) that I can find.

I hope to reproduce the Unicorn Tapestries (the five senses) in a series of quilts, and then write a book(s) about the construction.
