Always to Remember

This is an amazing history of the Vietname War Memorial found in Constitution Gardens of Washington D.C. It details the planning, development, fundraising, design, construction, and maintenance of the greatest honor to Americans lost in the Vietnam War.
I learned the names of several important people while reading this book.
Jan C. Scruggs- The soldier who envisioned the memorial and led the campaign to make it a reality.
Maya Lin- the young undergraduate student artist and architect who generated the design.
Sen. Charles McC. Mathias, Jr.- led the Congressional support for the memorial and secured a place for the memorial in Constitution Gardens.
Robert Doubek- the Washington lawyer who suggested the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund and secured many commercial, business and professional contributions.
I also learned about one of the most amazing monuments. It was built in my time, and now a minature replica travels from town to town. I saw this replica when it stopped in my community last year.
