2 journalers for this copy...
From the back cover:
'"I was neat, clean, shaved and sober, and I didn't care who knew it. I was everything the well-dressed private detective ought to be. I was calling on four million dollars."
The four million dollars is General Sternwood, a paralysed old man, already two-thirds dead. He has two beautiful daughters - one a gambler, the other a degenerate - and an elusive adventurer as a son-in-law. The General is being blackmailed and Marlowe's assignment is to get the blackmailer off his back. As it turns out there's a lot more at stake.'
Picked up for Gameface in CA, who many moons ago expressed an interest in reading a Raymond Chandler one day...so if you're going to do it, you may as well start at the beginning, right?
I haven't read this one yet, but still have a copy as Jmg49 in Ontario was good enough to send me his...so Steve, let me know when you've read it and we can compare notes. :O)
If it's anything as like as good as 'Farewell, My Lovely', though, I think we may be in for a treat...
Update 17/5/03
I guess this still hasn't reached you yet, but I finished reading the copy John sent me today...here's a link to that journal entry.

You won't believe that this JUST came in the mail today!!! It's been travelling across the pond, for, well...just about 2 years! Somebody in the Post must have been rowing it across, and taken several side trips to boot!
Thanks Lucycat!
I can't believe that this took so long to get here!!!
