To Kill a Mockingbird

Set in the small Southern town of Maycomb, Alabama, during the Depression, To Kill a Mockingbird follows three years in the life of 8-year-old Scout Finch, her brother, Jem, and their father, Atticus--three years punctuated by the arrest and eventual trial of a young black man accused of raping a white woman. Though her story explores big themes, Harper Lee chooses to tell it through the eyes of a child. The result is a tough and tender novel of race, class, justice, and the pain of growing up.
Required reading in most American high schools, I thought it would be fun to take this book overseas! :-) I plan to release it soon in Onsala, Sweden.

I'm sorry to say that the book is falling apart. I tried to fix it, but the more I try the worse it gets. I'm sending it to Joika who wants to read it and I hope that it will be alright for reading. The moment I find a new copy I'll replace this one.

Thank you Panzeranzi; the book arrived in Kiiminki in one piece though a bit fragile. Hopefully it will survive my reading. Meanwhile I will be keeping my eyes open if I should happen to find a copy of this novel somewhere. I got the book today and for some reason I just had to read the last lines of the last page of this book. Shame on me! :) (But I don't think they revealed anything.)

Finally I got to read this novel. It was simply great. I wish I could write like this.
Many scenes draw my attention and I still recollect them; for example the one were Scout speaks about entailments for the Cunninghamns or a dialogue between Miss Maudie and Mrs Merriweather (What do they talk about? I couldn't understand; I was like Scout - you hear the words and there's a hidden meaning in them but I just don't get the mystery behind adult talk).
This novel really is many-sided. I was so happy at times (Atticus as a father) and so sad the other times (human stupidity, racism). No wonder this is a classic.
This book is really falling apart. I don't know what to do to it. If someone likes to try to read it, it would be great but soon it's just impossible.
