A little overwrought, but then I've never lived in a war zone. A very compelling story.

i really enjoyed it. i enjoyed the style, and how the characters are developed. i thought it gave an interesting view of afghanistan, especially mentioning the different ethnic groups which cohabit, for better or worse, in the country. i especially appreciated that the story is not so much about afghanistan as it is about a man and his journey, and it was refreshing to hear about this country from a non-emotional, not over dramatic, and not canadian, point of view.
