This was a really enjoyable read about someone who has lived a life unimaginable to most of us - born into extreme wealth, Clarissa Dixon Wright managed to drink her fortune away and was only able to survive by getting sober and taking up cooking. Most of us know her from the Two Fat Ladies series, but this book shows she has had a varied and rich life - sometimes tragic, sometimes hilarious. This comes across as honest and not at all self pitying, and is a fascinating read.

An honest account of a troubled life - Clarissa's wealthy family was not a happy one and although she outwordly appeared to have all possible advantages, she suffered an abusive chldhood and youth. The story of how she then became an alcoholic and eventually battled her addiction is told without self-pity. the final chapters of the book perhaps see her living her happiest times, and there is a positive ending.
