I have run out of superlatives to describe the Hitch-Hiker's books...they're just absolutely brilliant.
This is the second in the series...if you haven't read them yet, turn off your computer, put on your coat, pick up your cash & keys and go out and treat yourself to them right this minute...:O)
Update 1/4/04
Headed off in today's post to Valkyrie119, who had this on her wish-list - I do hope you enjoy it! :O)

Lucycat you are an angel!
Thank you so much for the book, the cute card and the gorgeous beaded bookmark.
Facing annihilation at the hands of the warlike Vogons is a curious time to have a craving for tea. It could only happen to the cosmically displaced Arthur Dent and his curious comrades in arms as they hurtle across space powered by pure improbability--and desperately in search of a place to eat.
Among Arthur's motley shipmates are Ford Prefect, a longtime friend and expert contributor to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy; Zaphod Beeblebrox, the three-armed, two-headed ex-president of the galaxy; Tricia McMillan, a fellow Earth refugee who's gone native (her name is Trillian now); and Marvin, the moody android who suffers nothing and no one very gladly. Their destination? The ultimate hot spot for an evening of apocalyptic entertainment and fine dining, where the food (literally) speaks for itself.
Brilliant, funny, great book.

Amusing take on the "what does it all mean" question. The world ends, there's some time travel hopping, and civilisation is beginning again. The story of Ford and poor Arthur is very funny, with the wit and the irony is very funny.
Takes a bit of remembering from the forst volume, and as bits fall into place, the cleverness of these little volumes is amazing.

This is truly a fantasy classic. But some how the story telling style is not really my forte. I only managed to read half of the book.
stupid me, i already received it, like, 2 weeks ago or something and totally forgot to journal it... sorry, will read and journal again asap...
okay, i'm sorry i kept the books that long but right now i don't feel like reading them, so i'm just going to send them on unread...
