Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance

I bought this book as I wanted to get to know Obama a bit as he was making such a splash on the campaign trail. On TV and such everyone was talking about his more recent book "The Audacity of Hope" (I'll read that one if he wins). I'm glad I bought and read this one as this is before he seems to have thought of running for President, at least in a serious manner. This was also before he was a senator. I won't make any political statements here, but I found the book to be somewhat revealing of his background and during his days as an organizer in So. Chicago. These are times he refers to quite a bit in his speeches.
The book is very well written; as well as his speeches. This man is every bit the writer as he is an orator. And quite charismatic. The book drags here and there but is mostly enlightening and entertaining. I'm very glad I read it and I think you will be too.
I'm leaving for a drive to CA tomorrow and I will release it somewhere along the way.
