A friend's mother gave this to my mother, who read it and gave it to me.
"Do you know the feeling when you start reading a new book before the membrane of the last one has had time to close behind you? You leave the previous book with ideas and themes--characters even--caught in the fibers of your clothes, and when you open the new book, they are still with you."
These two sentences from "The Thirteenth Tale" sum up exactly how I feel when I have been fully immersed in a good story. I finished this one late last night, and when I finally went to sleep, the characters and settings followed me into my dreams. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and all the stories within the stories--what a great way to begin the year!
