Thanks watchcat! I picked it up today at the post office. I can't believe that it's been three months now! It's too bizarre.. Anyway, because it's been so long, I've forgotten whether I've put up my side of the bargain - was I supposed to send a book to you, watchcat, or have I already? (i remember sending books off to the States...) or was this a RABCK? In that case, lots of good karma heading your way! Thanks again!!

Even though the movie is one of my all-time favourites, the book dragged in many parts. I guess I wasn't as interested in astronomy/pyschics as I thought, because my eyes glazed over some of the scientific ramblings in the book. I guess in the movie, I was more attracted to the spiritual aspect.

Since watchcat offered this book as a RABCK to me, I decided to return the favour and offer this book as a RABCK to the bookrelay forum. After almost a week of posting the RABCK offer (?), WittySquirrel finally accepted it.

Mailing it off to WittySquirrel today.

By the way, if you've been keeping track of the book's journey so far, it's gone from watchcat --> someprimate --> wittysquirrel

LOL.

11th book on my TBR list!

Journal Entry 5 by WittySquirrel on Tuesday, March 16, 2004
I cheated my TBR list and read it first... XD

I would have to say that the book is definately better than the movie... I saw the big difference between both... You have to keep in mind that this book was written in 1985 but the plot towards the end was set in 1999, so it wasn't a surprise that the author used "microcomputer" instead of "handheld computer"...

The scientific and astronomy terms isn't too detailed IMO and I think it did help the story without turning it into a textbook... Although there were some terms that I don't understand, but I gained a little bit of the concept after watching the movie... It wasn't very tough finishing the book... One of the main debates in this book was about Science vs. Religion... Is there a god out there?

Overall, I give an 8 out of 10 for this book!
