Collapsed at home very late this evening after a busy day, and got *at last* to open my Not-So-Secret-Summer-Solstice-Surprise parcel and now BIG thanks are due to dolph1n for the most gorgeous of parcels! Thanks for a great book, The Narrows by Michael Connelly accompanied by a jolly Lancashire Museums bookmark + Divine Dark Chocolate bar + sparkly pens + juicy lollys + and a cool religious-icon type bracelet with amazing glowing tiny wee picture's, I thought at first were fairies till I popped on some specs and peered closer. I've never seen anything like it. Oh joy, another Michael Connelly book to read, yahoo!

Bizarrely I’ve recently read [Sun 8 Jun] The Poet, the predecessor to this, and even as I sit here with two other books by my side that I’ve already started, so I can release them on my holiday, my fingers are itching to grab The Narrows and get stuck in! So all in all I'm pleased as punch and want to enthuse, in fact… something like this! :-D

Oh I forgot to mention, how could I, the collection of card making fun bits; luscious cards + paper punched-shapes + various nets one with blue lurex five pointed stars + and bits of waxed paper, some fuchsia. Giving me to the thought that many BookCrossers are mind-readers, I’ve got a bit of a fondness for fuchsia! More (((THANKS)))

ADDED 24 Jun 08: OK why fight it… I am keen as mustard to get reading this so… It’s heading off on holiday with me and I will return later to pop a review here.

Book cover: Harry Bosch confronts a villain who’s long been in hiding… he’s called The Poet. Former FBI agent Rachel Walling has received the call she’s been dreading for four years. The Poet is back. He had not forgotten her. And he has a special present for her. Harry Bosch is adjusting to life in Las Vegas as a private investigator and a new father. He gets a call, too, from the widow of a friend who died recently, someone who worked on the famous case tracking the killer known as The Poet.

ADDED 17 Oct 08: As ever things are not what they at first appear and the complexities here are legion. Tinged heavily with a bittersweet plot thread of Harry searching to understand if his friend Terry McCaleb was killed and if so, why and by whom, this is as superbly involving as Connelly’s usual. Bittersweet, in that Connellys readers, used to enjoying a nice juicy murder hunt, will find themselves in the sad position, of Bosch delving into the death of an already familiar and fondly recalled character, Terry McCaleb. Involving, in that keen readers have already met the poet who is a formidable foe.
