Mary Roach was in town for a reading/signing. I felt I had to go, as I so enjoyed Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers. Mary is a funny and wonderful person. She is scarily thin tho..made me feel quite large. sigh.

I purchased this copy to go out on a ring.

Journal Entry 2 by zzz from Rakovica / Раковица, City of Belgrade Serbia on Tuesday, June 10, 2008
It's here.
Life is horribly hectic at the moment since it's exams season but I'll do my best not to keep book too long. (I'm apologizing in advance)

UPDATE: 08.10.2008.
Folks I'm so sorry for holding this book for so long. That wasn't what I planned. Namely I was absent for more than two month and was aiming to bring book with me and read it during my travel. However I forgot it in my appartment. After the trip I had some health issues and I literally came back on the track some ten days ago.
I'll do my best to read/send book ASAP. I'm so sorry for this huge delay.

UPDATE: 30.01.2009.
I finish this finally few days ago (PMed next in line before that but still no answer so I just sent her another PM). First I must apologize for this horrible delay. I really didn't plan this (this is SO not me!).

About the book:
Well it seems I just expected too much from it. Indeed Roach has a talent to transform dry subject into funny story but I found "Bonk" not nearly as funny as "Stiff". Probably because "Stiff" is such a great work but don't get me wrong, "Bonk" certainly is still good just don't make comparison with "Stiff" and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Arrived today. Thanks for sending, zzz, and for starting the ring, innae. I'll read this one and send it on as soon as possible.

Like zzz, I thought this book was not quite as good as Stiff. That doesn't mean it was bad, though! Roach has a wonderful sense of humour.

Thanks for sharing this one, innae! Will be posted to the next reader a bit later today.

Journal Entry 7 by VeganMedusa from Invercargill, Southland New Zealand on Monday, April 6, 2009
Well, that didn't take so long. Good timing - I just finished the 3 books I was reading and was wondering what to read next.
Thanks innae and klaradyn. Looking forward to this. :)

NB: Indygo88 must have signed up for a couple of bookrings for this book, she's already reading it, so I will PM Stacers1973 for address.

Journal Entry 8 by VeganMedusa from Invercargill, Southland New Zealand on Tuesday, April 28, 2009
Well, I haven't read Stiff yet (only Spook) so it must be really good, because I enjoyed this immensely. I love her chapter headings and the pictures. She's got a great sense of humour but it never comes across as trying to be funny, and she's able to write herself into the story without overdoing it or making it all about her.
Thanks innae, for starting this ring. I'm laid up with a bad back at the moment but I hope to post this on to Stacers tomorrow.
ETA: Hubby will post it if I can't manage it - he wants this book gone from the house, as he is sick of me always telling him interesting tidbits from it (why wouldn't he find rectal collections interesting?!)
ETA: Posted surface mail 1/5/09.

Journal Entry 9 by Stacers1973 from Gladstone, Oregon USA on Wednesday, May 20, 2009
Thanks VeganMedusa for posting this on to me ... a package from Invercargill, what could this be?! A ring, and so quick, hurrah! Thanks innae for starting the ring, looking forward to it.

Journal Entry 10 by Stacers1973 from Gladstone, Oregon USA on Thursday, May 28, 2009
I thought I might feel awkward reading this book, and while some parts did have me cringing; including some of Dr Hsu's penis procedures, for instance or the footnote on Rectal Foreign Bodies, other parts had me just giggling or even laughing out loud. Mary Roach put the funny into sex with this book. Oh it is scientific and odd but also so amusing. From learning about the scrotum's natural expandability to The Neutical's BBQ apron, to Mary trying to borrow a sex *device*, there was a general merriment that had me rolling in my chair.
My favorite name in the book has to be Dorcus Butt. I was also amused by the clever use of postage stamps, although, I hope no one re-purposes those in particular {grin}. Thanks for sharing :)

Pm'ed spaceystacey and will post off when I receive her address.
