Maybe it's just me, but I found this much more enjoyable than The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency. The Sunday Express review describes it well:

I plan to release this book for the Tartan Day Challenge. I think McCall Smith's 44 Scotland Street books are especially appropriate for that purpose, because one of the characters is from Arbroath. And if you aren't sure of the significance of Arbroath, here's one source:
