Maisie Dobbs

a novel which is difficult to classify. It starts like a classic detective-story, then turns into a moving account of World War I. Intersting and well-written.

Et un de plus pour Icila !
Thanks Tamsine, as you know I received the book-box long time ago but I'm a bit busy with children, grandchildren and journeys.
I was very interested in that reading. Very well documented about the way of life between people of upstairs ans people of downstairs before the WWI, military life in France during the WWI and the poor condition of the medical staff.
It seems that the wounded were best tended to in France than in England after the war.
This book is more about psychology than purely mystery that's why Maisie is a very different sleuth, Hercule Poirot's style.

It was waiting for me when I got back from my long weekend away. Thank you! I have already read this, but will gladly read it again before going on to the next in the series. I love the character of Maisie Dobbs and I love the time period, England between the wars.
Starting this now. It will go off on a little spiral soon. I have books 2, 3, and 4 as well. PM me if you want to read the next ones.
