Odd, but I've read two very different Derek Robinson books over the past month. He knows his stuff historically, but he bends towards farce in his novels.
This is very witty and full of plot twists, but perhaps a little farcical to be good history. Then again, the true history of the Double Cross system and the Abwehr was farcical enough for any number of novels.
