13 Steps Down

Not the best Rendell, but it'll do. You've got a stalker obsessed with both a beautiful model and with Reginald Christie (and if you don't know who that is, you might look him up before you read this book). You've got an elderly landlady who lives in books and pines for a long-ago love, which really wasn't a love at all. You've also got a lot of coincidental meetings which don't come off as quite believable. But all in all, this is a fairly intriguing read. Right to the very end, which really, Ms. Rendell, was bit cruel.
P.S. I didn't chew on the cover. Sir Pouncelot did.
