Another book handed over at Lyn's! I really enjoyed the cup of tea, cake and chat and look forward to reading the books you gave me!
Thank you, Bookwormkt. I very much enjoyed our get-together and look forward to doing it again before too long :-) I enjoyed Thyme of Death (that was thanks to you as well) so I'm sure I'll enjoy spending more time in the company of China and friends. (Gosh! What a lot of enjoyment ...)
There's not a lot to say about this. It's a standard, cosy, easy-to-read, Texan murder mystery - and that more or less sums it up! The plot's entertaining enough at the time but instantly forgettable afterwards - which isn't a criticism because there's a time and a place for everything! The time and place for this is on holiday or hiding from the Winter snow in front of a real log fire! Thanks again, bookwormkt :-)
Now where?
I'm giving this to Tree-hugger to Wild Release somewhere in York for me. Perhaps she'll find a suitable themed release/herb-y location?

Posted as a RABCK to plum-crazy. I'd sent her the first one in the series so it seemed only fair to follow it up with this one - and it didn't seem to be going anywhere sitting on T-H's shelves!!
Thanks for this Nu-knees, it was a lovely surprise to receive this RABCK this morning.....hope it's as good as the first one :o)
As Nu-knees said "The plot's entertaining enough at the time but instantly forgettable afterwards"...& I have to agree. A lawyer turned herb store owner who investigates murder, the idea really appeals to me but somehow it falls a bit flat & after reading two of China's adventures I don't feel I "know" her any better. What should have been a really engaging story failed to engross as I would have liked! I will read the third in the series (thanks Nu-knees) & will probably read more if they happen my way but I won't be beating a path to hunt them down.
If previous readers don't object I may donate it to a RNLI shop in Scotland - if it's open in October :o)
Read as part of the ULTIMATE CHALLENGE - themed "HALLOWEEN" read for October
On it's way to Scotland where it will be donated to the RNLI shop in Port Patrick - if it's open in October!
