I always hoped Leisure or someone else would reprint this book at an affordable price! Can't wait to read!
This is a collection of three novellas. Richard Laymon, Jack Ketchum, Edward Lee were all given a basic simple premise for a story: a stranger walks into a place of business...and starts shooting. From there they each created their stories.

Loved this one! I loved the intro by Matt Johnson that gave some great background on how the book came about. And it's just so cool to see how very different all three of these authors made the stories! I really enjoyed them all, and although Laymon's was very awesome, (I can't believe these words are coming out of my fingers) I thought Ed Lee's story was superior! I had no idea just where he was going with it until the end. And the VERY end... wow, that just rocked! Ketchum's story was good, but did come in third (even though, since he has the two movies out, Leisure put his name first on the cover lol).

Thank you very much for granting one of my wishes Jare! That was very kind of you. I look forward to reading this book!
I enjoyed the Richard Laymon story. It was typical of the Laymon books that I've read so far with lots of killing and sexual stuff.
I did not like the story by Edward Lee and did not finish reading this one. His stuff is a little too sci-fi and weird for my taste. (Did I just say too weird for MY taste? Wow!) I've tried to read his stories in several collections that I've read and never have liked any of them. I did see the similarity between his story and Laymon's story, which was explained by the fact that they were originally writing one together.
I also enjoyed the Jack Ketchum story somewhat, but would have to say Laymon's was my favorite of the 3. I was not expecting Ketchum's story to end as it did, which was certainly an unexpected twist on the shared theme.
I'm reserving this book for alteregozoe's Horror Bookbox (Round 2) which should be on the way to me right now.

I have to say that I totally agree with Jare about the intro by Matt Johnson but I'll have to agree with ladybug74 that Laymon took the cake with his story. It was a very typical Laymon story but nonetheless everything loved by Laymon fans. I'm not sure if I've ever read Ketchum before but he came in second for me. I especially loved the part about authors using pseudonyms (Ketchup). This was the first Lee for me and I thought the sci-fi was a nice twist and the whole idea of Church and State was different and creative. I didn't however like all the terminology and words that left me flabbergasted. It was a bit too long in comparison to Laymon and Ketchum and I thought it strayed too far from the original entrance. I have no idea what happened in the end. I would like to try reading another Lee story so I can form a better opinion. This is going into ladybug74's horror book box.
