A wandering book -- the karma of literature!

This is another wonderful Atwood novel. The story of Elaine's childhood was haunting and heartbreaking. Childhood can be a very tough place. This story is about Elaine's childhood, but also about her journey as an adult, back to her hometown and through her emotional landscape to make peace with her past. Very memorable.

I finished this up today. Not nearly as good at The Handmaid's Tale, but still interesting. I particularly liked the ending.

Got in the Book Box Top 100!
Returning to the city of her youth for a retrospective of her art, controversial painterElaine Risley is engulfed by vivid images of the past. Strongest of all is the figure of Cordelia, leader of the trio of girls who initiated her into the fierce politics of childhood and its secret world of friendship, longing, and betrayal. Elaine must come to terms with her own identity as a daughter, a lover, an artists, and a woman-but above all, she must seek release from Cordelia's haunting memory.
