What Child Is This?: A Christmas Story (Laurel-Leaf Books)
4 journalers for this copy...
One of my neice's books.
Mailing to a friend to share with her niece.
Will read and maybe give to one of the teens at church.
Thank you so much for the kind thought in sending these to my niece but she only reads romances and none of the modern day stuff. More like Barbara Cartland.
It has to have Dukes and Earls and Ladies in ballgowns. I think when I was her age (26?) that's about all I read also.
Now I read everything. :)

Decided to celebrate *Christmas In July* by reading a couple of Christmas based books.
So glad that I finally picked this one up to read ... I loved it ... even though it had me in tears.
Below is the summary from Goodreads:
Not everyone is lucky at Christmas.
Some people would call 16-year-old Liz Kitchell and her family truly fortunate, but it doesn't feel that way to her.
It seems that only a miracle can give 8-year-old Katie her holiday wish.
She wants a family, something she does not have as a foster child.
As for 17-year-old Matt, he too is in a foster home and is finally letting himself feel a sense of belonging. When he allows himself to do a good deed for Katie, he doesn't realize what would happen. Is the spirit of Christmas strong enough to grant the impossible?

Sent out in a belated Birthday box.

Enjoy!
Received along with quite a few other books from a good friend. Thanks Edwina for all of them; what a wonderful surprise.
A Christmas story with heart...four teens (Liz, Matt, Tack, and Jamie) have four very different impressions of Christmas. Liz's family celebrates it, but only in a secular fashion; Matt is a foster child and he keeps his head down, trying not to be noticed; Tack and his family want every child to have some sort of present so puts up wishing trees in restaurants around town, and Jamie is inconsequential to their group. Katie, however, is another foster child and only wants a family of her own.
Katie's Christmas list is that...to have a real family. Is it possible? Matt posts Katie's wish on a wishing tree, but when her new family doesn't arrive, and Matt tells the truth. What next for eight-year-old Katie?
A thoughtful read about families and Christmas, and a tearjerker ending.

Thank you secret santa! I was a big fan of Caroline B Cooney as a kid, but I haven't even heard of this one.
