"At fifty-seven, George is settling down to a comfortable retirement, building a shed in his garden, reading historical novels, listening to a bit of light jazz. Then Katie, his unpredictable daughter, announces that she is getting remarried, to Ray. Her family is not pleased - as her brother jamie observes, Ray has 'strangler's hands'. Katie can't decide if she loves Ray, or loves the way he cares for her son Jacob, and her mother Jean is a bit put out by the way the wedding planning gets in the way of her affair with on of her husband's former colleagues. And the tidy and pleasant life Jamie has created crumbles when he fails to invite his lover, Tony, to the dreaded nuptials.

Unnoticed in the uproar, George discovers a sinister lesion on his hip, and quietly begins to lose his mind."

Really enjoyed reading this one. A different story to what I normally read. It's really just a family drama, but written in a way that keeps you really entertained and is very funny in parts.

Sending to my NSSSS partner.

Recieved as part of my lovely NSS parcel from Emlar. I can't wait to start reading this, it has been on my wishlist for a while. Many thanks for this book.

I loved this book. A wonderfully leisurely read. The characters in this tale are suitably believable without being overly complex, and there aren't so many of them that you loose track of who they are and what their roll is in this novel. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It is by no means a cliff-hanger, but it does keep the reader enthralled with it's easy to follow story line, realistic characters, and of course that all important touch of humour.

Many thanks for sending me this book, it was a grand read!

Thankyou for the book which has just been brought to me by my husband. 'This was in the garage' he said. That my friends translates as 'The postman brought me the mail last week instead of putting it through the letterbox - and I forgot to bring it in'

Thanks Chunnie for the RABCK and I will go on to Bookchain and register it's arrival.
