The Thirteenth Tale

There was a lovely gothic feel to this book, and while I was interested in the characters, there were few I actually liked. I wasn't expecting the twist at the end. I enjoyed being immersed in this story and it lingered in my mind for a few days afterward. I highly reccomend it.
I have offered this book as a bookring. Only 6 readers have signed up for this one, but I will re-post in a few months and add the others on at the end (if there are any more). Usual rules apply: Please journal when you receive the book and when you have read and are ready to send the book to the next person on the list. Please PM next on list and let me know if there are any problems reaching someone. Please try to read and pass on the book within a month. Here is the reading order:

The book arrived today, (oops, make that yesterday as it's after midnight now....)and I should be able to get to it very soon as I'm just finishing a book. Thanks for the opportunity house-elf, and also the lovely postcard!!
I agree with house-elf about the gothic feel to this book. It was quite a page-turner......I had a difficult time putting the book down. Great writing style! Thanks for the opportunity house elf! Ah, TinkEsq, you are in for a treat! Pming you for your address.
Have TinkEsq's address & mailed out today. Enjoy!
Arrived today. (Thanks for the postcard, spuddossis!) Just finishing another book, so I'll start it this weekend.
6.23.08 - This wasn't as enjoyable a story as I had hoped. Maybe I was just looking forward to reading it too much. But it is an interesting tale and has a couple of good twists. Very old school gothic style.

I enjoyed this book, especially the allusions to works such as Jane Eyre and The Woman in White.
I will pass this book along to elfgirlsmom.

This was waiting for me in my return-from-vacation stack of mail. It was a delightful find in a pile of catalogs and junk mail. I am looking forward to starting it.
House-elf, I'll mail this internationally--I've never posted anything to South Africa--that sounds like something new and different I'd be willing to try.

This was a deliciously wonderful story. I really enjoyed the mix of sleuthing and story telling as Margaret tries to put together the true story of the past. Knowing nothing about the bonds between twins, some of the key elements were weak, but all in all an excellent read with a few good twists. Thank you for sharing.
I will mail this along as soon as I hear where it is to go next.

This has been mailed to South Africa in today's mail. Sorry for the delay, I kept forgetting to take with me on my errands.
Thank you very much - arrived today. I think this is an RABCK and am putting it on my TBR pile. I have a HUGE amount to read before I can get around to this but I'm really looking forward to reading it.

I am becoming a co-reader with Mr. Baggins who has kindly given me The 13th tale to read in the next 2 weeks before he will read it and send it on its way. I am looking forward to the book as the first few pages seem to be very promising.
CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
Enjoyed the read - does have a real gothic feel. Now I hand over to Mr Baggins.

Back from Tallulah1 - will be reading it before mid-April and will then find out from house-elf where it needs to go
13th Tale is a good read, but not a "wow' read. More a period than a gothic novel imo. Thanks for sharing. Will contact house-elf to find out where it needs to go next.

I kept on reading this book, because I needed to know what will happen, but I must admit that I got impatient while reading and had a sneek preview of later pages.
I didn't really like the characters, so that spoiled it for me.
Will send it on asap.

Got it in yesterday's mail. Thanks very much house-elf for organising the ring and Trinina67 for sending it from Australia all the way to France. I'll read it as soon as I've finished my current reading.
Started reading yesterday.
I really enjoyed the book from the start to the end. It's a real mystery that's being unfolded and the story is really well handled throughout the book. A very good read.
PMing house-elf so the book comes back home. Thanks for sharing!
