Well, I finally read this international best seller. And I still don't understand how it came to be so popular. I really don't see what all the fuss is about. It's a fairly ordinary thriller along the lines of Indiana Jones, but less exciting. It didn't turn me off completely, but I found it rather 'talky', with Langdon spending much (most?) of the book explaining history and symbolism. The French policeman, Fache, is a very unlikely character, and I have a hard time believing the the British police would jump to his orders as portrayed in the book. I guessed many of the major plot developments ahead of time, including the identity of the bad guy. And I found the end a bit of a cop-out.

I have to say that it did keep me turning the pages until the very end; so it wasn't *that* bad, just not worthy of all the hype.
