Hotel World

Blurb on back cover says...
"The kind of novel that is as rare as good room service. Ali Smith's Hotel World is a passionate, funny, serious, captivating glimpse into the lives of five people connected to one branch of the ubiquitous Global Hotel chain. Brought together - and forced apart - by a bizarre incident involving a dumb waiter, we share their very different experiences of life in the aftermath of death, of pain and sorrow, of hope and love - everythin, in fact, that the world dares to throw at us."
Thoroughly refreshing read that I enjoyed.

Left at the London meetup tonight - not sure if anyone will take it home or whether it will remain on the shelves for a future journey! Happy tranvelling little book.
Left at the London meetup tonight - not sure if anyone will take it home or whether it will remain on the shelves for a future journey! Happy tranvelling little book.
I picked this book up at the February meetup and have just read it as part of my finish-as-many-books-as-possible-to-take-them-to-the-convention drive!
I found it rather strange, and not at all what I was expecting. I thought it would be along the lines of Hotel Babylon, but it really isn't. It looks at the accidental death of a young woman in a hotel from the point of view of various and entirely unconnected strangers, their only connection being a (sometimes rather tenuous) link to that hotel.

Picked this one up at the Convention:0)
A good story, although I have to agree with the other JEs, on the whole well-written.
