The Handmaid's Tale: A Novel
3 journalers for this copy...
I rarely give a book a "10" rating, but this novel deserved one for so many reasons. I reviewed another copy of this book which I sent on to my sister.
My book group is reading this in April and since it was not on the shelves at our local Barnes and Noble, I purchased 3 extra copies @ Amazon.com to offer the ladies. One book group member accepted my offer. I'm sending this extra copy to Stacers1973. It's on her wish list.
Enjoy!

Thank you so much!! I am doing a happy dance... I had gotten the mail earlier today - nothing special, ads and such and headed out to the coffee shop for some tea. When I pulled into the driveway, there was a package sticking out of my mailbox - this book! I very much appreciate that you sent this my way and your review made me want to read it even more. Thanks again KimKerry!!
I just wanted to say thank you again to KimKerry for sending me this book.
I started it a few nights ago and was immediately hooked. Offred is interesting from the start … I wanted to know all about her and what happened to put her in such a position. Many questions are answered during the course of the book, but not all … also the end fate of Offred is never revealed. We go through the emotional roller coaster of being complacent with what Offred has chosen as her fate in this newly remodeled world to being despondent over what she has lost to being hopeful that she would get pregnant, avoiding the end fate of not getting pregnant to being frightened of her getting caught and at the same time cheering an escape to freedom.
These characters were true – Offred, Ofglen, Luke, Nick, the Commander, Serena Joy, Moira, the Aunts. Each had a perfect placement in the story. Even lesser characters such as Cora and Rita, made sense in turn.
Glad I got to read this book while words are still legal.
